Admissions application form builder for higher education

Build and check the application your admissions team needs to manage. Start with the layout, decide which sections each applicant sees, and test how missing required answers are corrected.

Prepare the form

Edit the application layout

Arrange the questions and sections your admissions team needs to ask. This demonstration starts with Applicant type and Entry term stacked in the applicant preview.

In the builder, staff resize a field, drag it into place and save the draft. The newly opened applicant preview shows the two questions side by side. The layout changes before the draft is published.

This silent demonstration shows a saved layout change and the resulting applicant preview.

  1. Open the original applicant preview, where Applicant type and Entry term are stacked.
  2. Return to the builder. Resize a field to half width, then drag it onto the other field's row to create two half-width cells.
  3. Save the draft and reopen the applicant preview.
  4. Applicant type and Entry term now appear side by side. The draft has not been published and no application is submitted.

Check each applicant path

Show the right sections to first-year and transfer applicants

In this demonstration, staff set Previous colleges to appear when Applicant type is Transfer. The rule is visible beside the section it controls.

The applicant preview then switches First-year → Transfer → First-year. Transfer reveals Previous colleges with a blank required question, so the section remains incomplete. Switching back hides it again.

This silent demonstration shows a staff member defining which applicants see a section.

  1. In the builder, open the display rule for Previous colleges.
  2. Choose Applicant type, the operator “is”, and the value “Transfer”. Save the rule and use “Show section”.
  3. In the applicant preview, First-year does not show Previous colleges. Switching to Transfer reveals it.
  4. The revealed section is incomplete: Previous college name is required and blank. Switching back to First-year hides the section again.

Help the applicant continue

Test required answers and correction messages

A missing Full name is identified in the applicant's review. The Fix action takes them back to the question so they can supply and save the answer.

Returning to review clears the missing-answer error and shows Ready to submit. This demonstration stops at a draft; it does not show a submitted application.

This silent demonstration follows one missing required answer. It stops before submission.

  1. The applicant review identifies an unanswered Full name question.
  2. The applicant chooses Fix and returns to the question.
  3. After entering and saving the fictional answer, the applicant returns to review.
  4. The missing-answer error clears and the form shows Ready to submit. The application remains a draft; it has not been submitted.
